Two UMDNJ-SOM Students Selected Greater Philadelphia Schweitzer Fellows
The Albert Schweitzer Fellowship (ASF) announced the selection of the 2012-13 Greater Philadelphia Schweitzer Fellows, and two of them, Jason Keiner (left) and Samuel Master (right), are students at the School of Osteopathic Medicine (SOM). They will join approximately 240 other Schweitzer Fellows across the country in implementing service projects to benefit underserved communities. Keiner and Master will expand Project REACH (Revitalizing Education and Advancing Camden's Health), an innovative after-school program launched by Schweitzer Fellows and UMDNJ alumni Hyun Ouk Hong and Farhad Modarai, to a second location. Project REACH is a unique health education intervention aimed at equipping at-risk Camden middle school students with the skills to take control of their own health—and empower their communities to do the same.
