The role of the Managed Care Department is to enroll providers, develop, analyze, negotiate and manage payer contracts. The Managed Care Division staff members facilitate contract negotiations between third party payers and for UMNJ-School of Osteopathic Medicine,University Doctors, and Faculty Practice Plan by conduction legal and financial analyses to determine the feasibility of each potential managed care contract.

When a new clinical practitioner is hired by UMDNJ-School of Osteopathic Medicine, the Managed Care Department enrolls the practitioner with UMDNJ-SOM UD FPP contracted third party payers. This process enables our patients to see participating providers with their health plan.
The Managed Care Department processes the applications of the employed practitioners of the UMDNJ-SOM University Doctors Faculty Practice Plan. The process known as credentialing includes obtaining and verifying the practitioner’s qualifications. (more)
