SOM Ranked Among Nation’s Best for Geriatric Medical Education
The annual U.S. News & World Report list of the country’s top medical schools in America ranks the School of Osteopathic Medicine (SOM) as one of the nation’s best for geriatric medical education. This marks the 12th time that SOM has been selected to be among the nation’s leaders in this medical specialty. Other schools cited this year for excellence in geriatric medical education include Johns Hopkins University, Harvard, Yale, the University of Pennsylvania, and UCLA.-
Rowan University Achieves Two Milestones Toward SOM and Stratford Graduate Program Integration
First, Rowan’s complex substantive change application was approved by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, a critical step toward safeguarding SOM’s accreditation at this time of transition. Second, Rowan’s submission to the New Jersey Department of Higher Education for capital funding under the Building our Future Bond Act and related sources of support included a project important to the Stratford campus that has been in planning for many years.

SOM Name Adopted by Rowan University Board of Trustees
The decision to call the school Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine, or RowanSOM informally and in secondary references, firmly incorporates SOM into Rowan and takes advantage of Rowan's regional and growing national reputation.
