Family Medicine Board Review Program

Goal: The goal of the Comprehensive Primary Care Update and Board Review Program is to provide a comprehensive primary care update for family practice and other primary care physicians and providers and to prepare them for Board certification, re-certification and continuing medical education. The Department of Family Medicine will conduct this Thirteenth annual 3.5-day program from September 9 to 12, 2009. The review will feature presentations by 46 UMDNJ-School of Osteopathic Medicine faculty members and area physicians. It is practice-oriented and addresses issues identified by primary care physicians.

The Program’s subjects are inclusive of cardiology, neurology, pulmonary medicine, orthopedic/bone and joint disorders, endocrinology, gastroenterology, psychiatry, infectious diseases, obstetrics and gynecology, geriatrics, dermatology, ophthalmology, radiology, pathology, pediatrics, vascular disease, bariatrics and special interests. An evening workshop is offered focusing on osteopathic manipulation medicine

This educational activity is presented by the UMDNJ-School of Osteopathic Medicine (SOM). UMDNJ-SOM is a postdoctoral training institution (OPTI).

UMDNJ-SOM is designated a category 1A CME provider by the American Osteopathic Association Council for Continuing Medical Education (AOA CCME). This Comprehensive Primary Care Update educational activity anticipates 29.25 Category 1A CME credit hours pending approval by the AOA CCME. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

UMDNJ-Center for Continuing and Outreach Education is accredited by the
Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. UMDNJ-Center for Continuing and Outreach Education designates the educational activity for a maximum of 29.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

UMDNJ-CCOE certifies that this continuing education offering meets the criteria for up to 2.9 Continuing Education Units (CEUs), provided the activity is completed as designed. One CEU equals 10 contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience under responsible sponsorship, capable direction, and qualified instruction.
