Outrotations/Rotations
Family Health Center
There are two clinics affiliated with the Kennedy Health System, each located
near the Stratford and Washington Township
Divisions. The Family Health Center
at Somerdale Square is a new facility
that offers all the resources and amenities
of a private office. The Somerdale
Square facility provides approximately
1900 GYN visits and 2400 OB visits per
year, and the Washington Township facility
provides approximately 850 GYN visits
and 1900 OB visits per year.
Subspecialty Training
Maternal-Fetal Medicine
Dr. Peter Konchak is Director of Maternal-Fetal
Medicine. Dr. Peter Konchak, Dr.
George Davis and Dr. Joseph Bottalico
provide Maternal Fetal Medicine services
at Kennedy Memorial Hospital, Our Lady
of Lourdes Medical Center and South
Jersey Health System. The first
year resident will rotate through the
Antenatal Testing Unit to develop basic
skills in obstetrical ultrasound.
Additionally, the resident will be introduced
to management of selected high-risk
patients and interpretation of antenatal
tests such as the non-stress test, biophysical
profile and doppler velocimetry.
MFM participates at high-risk conference
held bi-monthly at the resident education
lectures. While at Lourdes, there
are weekly hospital high-risk conferences.
Weekly conferences are held with the
Neonatologist to review high-risk undelivered
and delivered, patients and their babies.
Monthly, a high-risk conference is held
at Osborn Clinic to discuss ambulatory
high-risk obstetrical patients.
Reproductive Endocrinology
Reproductive endocrinology is a one
or two month rotation in the third year
of residency. During this time,
the resident will spend time in the
office as well as the hospital with
an attending physician. The rotation
is under the direction of Gasy S. Packin,
D.O. Educational seminars and
conferences in the local area are part
of the rotation and resident participation
is expected.
Urogynecology and Laparoscopic Reconstructive Surgery
Timothy McKinney, M.D. is the director of the urogynecologic and pelvic reconstructive surgery elective. This elective is offered during the third or fourth year of the training program and emphasizes advanced laparoscopic surgery as well as pelvic reconstruction. The resident will also have the opportunity to spend time in the urodynamics lab in order to understand the proper evaluation of urinary stress incontinence.
Gynecologic Oncology
David Warshal, M.D. is the director
of oncologic surgery at Cooper University
Hospital. During the fourth year
of residency the resident will have
an intensive experience learning the
proper evaluation and management of
gynecologic oncologic illnesses. The
members of the gynecology oncology staff
include:
Dr. James K. Aikins, Jr., M.D., Thomas
F. Rocereto, M.D., David P. Warshal,
M.D. and Meredith Crisp, M.D. There
is an osteopathic oncology fellowship
associated with Cooper University Hospital
through the SOM-OPTI.
