Director, Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program,
Assistant Professor

Welcome to the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey - School of Osteopathic Medicine , Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency online site. I invite you to review our fully accredited four-year academic program that offers the rewards of a community-based atmosphere in a developmental environment.

We offer high quality postgraduate resident training in general obstetrics and gynecology, reproductive endocrinology, maternal-fetal medicine, diagnostic ultrasound, and gynecologic oncology. Successful completion of the program leads to eligibility for certification by the American Osteopathic Association.

The residency is approved for twenty residents. Available positions vary by year. We also accept one Gynecologic Oncology fellow annually. The GYN-Oncology fellowship is based at Cooper University Hospital .

We prepare our graduates for clinical practice in the private and academic sectors, with many of our residents pursuing fellowships training.

An important component of our residency that has a strong academic focus is our conferences, seminars, lectures, and workshops, which are offered during regular protected educational time. Guest speakers and faculty provide weekly grand rounds, a didactic forum, fetal monitoring rounds, high-risk conferences and monthly journal club, which relate theory and practice.

We are proud of our program; we welcome your interest and look forward to hearing from you. Rev. 6/30/08

Residents perspectives

"There is such a variety of cases to see in our patient population. The attendings are passionate about their work and therefore are excellent instructors to those willing to listen. The attendings involve the resident in the cases so residents get maximum hands on experience.”— Cassandra Eakin, DO, PGY3

"This is a fantastic residency program that will start you on the track to becoming a fantastic surgeon from the first day you walk onto the Labor and Delivery floor. The volume of surgery to which we are exposed will adequately prepare you for life as an attending physician." - Jennifer Hummel, D.O. PGY4

"Our attendings emphasize a strong patient-physician relationship and allow us to take part in surgeries that first year residents from other programs do not take part in until their second year and beyond.  Also, some of the most amazing surgeries in obstetrics and uro-gynecology are performed here, something you won’t be able to see anywhere else!”— Virginia Chan, DO, PGY2
