Academic Instructional Support

The IST, Academic Instructional Design (AID) Team provides a wide range of support services for the use of technology in teaching and learning, with particular emphasis on the needs of the faculty. We also support all SOM constituents needing website design, development, training, and support.

Instructional Support consists of classroom teaching support‚ individualized instruction support ‚ development and delivery of materials for multiple distance learning modalities, and computer–based instructional development support for the use of interactive technologies. The team also provides consultation on instructional/web design‚ development‚ implementation, and evaluation of interactive technologies in support of classroom teaching and web deployment, as well as training in the use of interactive technologies for the classroom and the web.

Our services include:

  • Support and training for the WebCT CE and VISTA learning management systems.
  • Support, training, and consultations for the faculty in using and finding a wide variety of technology-enhanced teaching tools.
  • Design, development, and implementation of the SOM internet website and school portal.
  • Technology consultation and support for grants including but not limited to: creations of CD-ROM/DVD-ROMs, incorporation of PowerPoint presentations with audio/video, flash presentations, audio/video pod/vodcasting,
  • Training with Contribute for editing and publishing web pages.
  • Support and training of specialized academic software for WebCT including but not limited to: Optimizing PowerPoint presentations with Impatica, conversion of electronic documents into PDF for WebCT, Repsondus for WebCT, and Dreamweaver in support of HTML pages in WebCT.
  • Training with our Digital Management Solution - Artesia.
  • Training and support for DxR Clinician case-based patient simulation software.
