Headache Center

Philosophy

The University Headache Center takes pride in giving personalized care to its patients. A comprehensive treatment program may include measures such as the identification and modification of headache triggers, alteration of unhealthy lifestyle habits, learning biofeedback and manipulating muscle spasms in the back. Other treatment measures may be symptomatic medications that are taken to relieve a headache once it has started, and possibly daily preventative medication to reduce headache frequency, severity, and/or duration.

We believe in treating patients who have not found relief after seeking treatment from specialists such as neurologists, anesthesiologists, otolarynogolgists, ophthalmologists and pain specialists. The challenges put before the doctors, are patients who are often disabled and unable to continue meaningful employment because of their headaches when they first contact the office.

The doctors personally take a complete history and educate patients. The goal is to help patients understand the cause of their headaches and develop an individualized treatment plan based on patient lifestyle and preference.

Continuous care is a priority with frequent follow-up and access to the doctors for after-hour problems. The Center maintains a well-versed staff in headache management with vast experience in research and the treatment of headaches.
