UMDNJ-School of Osteopathic Medicine Publications Win National Awards

STRATFORD - The UMDNJ-School of Osteopathic Medicine has won three national awards for publications produced by the medical school’s Marketing Department.

"The University Doctors MedicaLink," a free monthly health newsletter, won the Gold Award in the Newspaper Advertising/Insert category, and "The UMDNJ-School of Osteopathic Medicine 2007" won the Silver Award in the Calendar category during the 24th Annual Healthcare Advertising Awards competition, sponsored by Healthcare Marketing Report.

The Healthcare Advertising Awards are the nation’s oldest and largest healthcare advertising competition, with this year’s contest attracting nearly 4,300 entries from across the United States. "The University Doctors MedicaLink" also won the Best Newspaper award in a competition sponsored by the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM), the national organization that represents the administration, faculty and students of the nation’s 23 colleges of osteopathic medicine.

"These awards are a fitting tribute to the dedicated team of professionals who assist our physicians to reach out to improve the health, knowledge and overall well-being of the people who live in our surrounding communities," said Dr. Thomas Cavalieri, interim dean of the UMDNJ-School of Osteopathic Medicine.

UMDNJ is the nation's largest free-standing public health sciences university with more than 5,500 students attending the state's three medical schools, its only dental school, a graduate school of biomedical sciences, a school of health related professions, a school of nursing and its only school of public health, on five campuses. Last year, there were more than two million patient visits to UMDNJ facilities and faculty at campuses in Newark, New Brunswick/Piscataway, Scotch Plains, Camden and Stratford. UMDNJ operates University Hospital, a Level I Trauma Center in Newark, and University Behavioral HealthCare, a mental health and addiction services network.
